Breakfast smoothie

Breakfast_smoothie_01Fruitsfruitsfruitsfruits. It happens every couple days that I loudly exclaim: “I could live off fruits my whole life! Fruitsfruitsfruits and nothing else!” It’s not entirely true, I couldn’t do it, too much I like savory meals, but my love to fruits is indeed intense. Even before I changed my eating habits, I ate fruits in abundance. I know, there are many different opinions out there about the high sugar in fruits… Personally, I am an advocate of fructose. Fructose is the sugar contained in fruits, which gives you energy. That is why I love to have a fruit smoothie for breakfast. The ingredients will always change, depending on which fruits I have at home.

This one is my current favorite at the moment. It’s thick and sweet and tastes like summer!

Breakfast smoothie

  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Servings: 2

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 handful of (frozen) strawberries
  • ½ mango
  • 1 kiwi
  • plant milk
  • water
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds (optional)
  • 1 tsp maca powder (optional)

Put everything in your blender and let it blend until smooth, add plant milk and a bit of water depending on which consistency you want your smoothie to have.

Tip: You can easily freeze bananas at home. Peel them, cut them into small pieces (it’ll later be easier to blend them) and store them in a container or bag in the freezer. Works with all fruits!

how much water and plant milk must be used?

    • Liana

I think it’s as much as you want – as thick or liquid you want your smoothie to be.

  • Can you share what kind of blender you use for your smoothies? Also, the benefits of adding maca powder? Thank you xo

I listed and photographed all my kitchen supplies in the “my pantry” section! And I am planning to do a blogpost about superfoods soon! :)

Is it possible to use the normal dairy milk instead of using a plant milk?

    • livingthehealthychoice

      Of course it is!

Why do you use frozen bananas (strawberries) instead of fresh?

  • Vårild

Is it possible to make the smoothie the day before and store it in the refrigerator?

  • Melissa

Hi! i was wondering if you peel your kiwis? and if so how? i always find it difficult to peel them

    • I use a knife to cut off the skin – nothing special :)

    • Zoe

You can also just spoon the inside out! I find that easiest :)

  • Jillian

I first followed you on Instagram and loved all of your posts. Now you have the blog and it’s even better!
I think it’s really nice how you respond to all comments that have a question.

If you don’t mind my asking, are you vegan or just vegetarian? You said you don’t eat eggs, and you use plant milk instead of dairy milk, so I was just wondering.

    • Pauline

      Of course you can! :)

Welcome to my kitchen, my colourful world of nourishing foods. Here I choose to live healthy, eating whole, plant-based foods; a happy mix of vegetables, legumes, fruits, whole grains, nuts and seeds. I am Pauline, a 24 year-old food lover and photographer from Berlin. My recipes are simple, vegetarian dishes with plant-based and natural ingredients only. Perfect for everyday life. You do not have to be a skilled cook to have a balanced and healthy diet – I am not! An open mind and willingness to try out something new everyday shall be enough. It’s an infinite journey, and I am happy about everyone who decides to come along.
