Green Protein Smoothie

Green_Protein_Smoothie_3A question I get over and over again is „how do you get enough protein?“. It is a valid question. When you have a plant-based diet and go without meat or eggs, it’s important to do some research. It took me a while to figure all of this out, but it is possible to get enough protein in your diet only from the help of plants! One big source of protein are nuts. I eat approximately a handful a day (not counting occasional banana-nut butter cravings). I also make sure to eat a portion of legumes (beans or lentils) and whole grains a day. And all your daily vegetables will also add up to a good sum.
I do make sure though to increase my protein income after I’ve worked out, as your body will more than ever need protein to repair and build up those muscles. So over time I have created a ritual: a green post-work out smoothie, that I’ll have after my work out. It’s filled with greens and fruits and most importantly: hemp protein. It might sound weird, but hemp powder is very high in protein, full of fatty acids, minerals, vitamins and and and… (It contains only very little THC, so no worries!) I would definitely recommend giving it a second look.

Green Protein Smoothie Recipe

  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Servings: 2

Ingredients

  • 100g cucumber (¼)
  • 1 stalk of celery
  • 2 handful of baby spinach
  • ½ mango
  • 1 banana
  • 300ml water
  • 1 tbsp hemp protein

Instructions

Put all the ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth. Add more water, if you wish for a more liquid smoothie. An idea for hot days is to add some ice to the ingredients. Feel free to mix up to 2 or 3 tbsp of hemp protein powder. Make sure to try first though, as it does affect the overall taste. Enjoy!
