Berry Crumble

Berry Crumble

  • Prep Time: 1 hour
  • Servings: fills one large baking dish

200g oats
100g ground almonds
40g pumpkin seeds
80g crushed walnuts
1 tsp dried vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cardamom
1 pinch of salt
4 tbsp coconut oil
3 tbsp maple syrup

Berry filling
250g blueberries
200g mixed berries
juice of 1 lemon
1-2 tbsp maple syrup

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C / 355°F.
  2. Wash the berries and put them into a large bowl, adding lemon juice and maple syrup. Gently toss them around with your hands until the juices are spread evenly. Pour the mixture into a baking dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, add all the dry crumble ingredients, giving them a little whisk before adding coconut oil and maple syrup. Use your hands to combine everything.
  4. Sprinkle the crumble over the berries and let everything bake in the oven for about 40 to 50 minutes. The berry crumble is done when the crust is dark brown and the berry juices are bubbling up.

do you think i could replace some of the mixed berries i.e. blackberries with strawberries? I know berries are a main basis of this dish but it looks amazing and I’m not the biggest fan of raspberries nor blackberries so I’m wondering if the strawberries would work as a replacement??

    • Hey Lilly!
Of course, go ahead and replace the berries with ones you fancy more! I guarantee you it will be just as delicious. :)

  • Natasja Kosten

My dad has a nut allergy is it possible to leave out the nuts? or replace them with something else?

    • Hey Natasja, so sorry for the late reply! How is he reacting to seeds? You could add some more pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, maybe some puffed quinoa or amaranth seeds! Hope that helps!

  • Mica

Could I replace the pumpkin seeds with sunflower seeds?

    • Hey Mica, yes, that’s right – just switch them around! x
