Cooking for 50 people with Google!
I’m happy to present you the second and final behind the scenes video of my recent project with Google.
Part of the #limitlessme campaign were two separate events. I think there were around 50 people each night and of course everyone had to be happily fed. Together with a chef (because I’m all but a trained chef), I created a plant-based menu for everyone who did not wish to consume animal products. I think it’s so important to include everyone’s wishes on a night like this and it’s pretty cool to see how much more it gets taken into consideration on events (or even small dinner parties) these days.
I had to admit, I was so so nervous leading up to the event. My head wouldn’t stop spinning with thoughts like “is there going to be enough for everyone?”, “Will everything turn out it did when I did the recipe testing at home?”, “Will the menu go together nicely?” and most importantly “Oh please let them all have enough room for the dessert!!!”. I was most excited about dessert. Unlike the other courses, this one was going out to everybody and since I have a serious sweet tooth, it was my most precious creation.
Needless to say, it went all good and I had two wonderful nights alongside inspiring creatives. The whole team made me feel so welcome and respected and even though I might have forgotten to actually eat any of the dishes I had created, it was so special. (Shout out to the kitchen staff that quickly prepared me a plate of leftovers when I burst into the kitchen at one point with a serious growling stomach. I also noticed how amazing it is to have a direct connection to the kitchen. I want that always.)
This project was different to anything else I had ever done before. I’m used to work on my own. I go shopping, I think of recipes, I test them (over and over) and finally I take the photos and make sure it all ends up online. And while I enjoy this way of working a lot, I noticed how much I liked working in a big team. It’s refreshing to have another set of eyes, another opinion and see where you can take your ideas together.
So thank you, Google, for putting your trust in me and thank you, guys, for making this all possible. I’m always grateful.
This project was created in cooperation with Google.
